..of Matters Arcane and Magic #6

Dear readers. Will you help me in figuring out how Hurvald should evolve into a daemon prince?

As you probably can guess, I won’t just take a stock daemon prince kit, stick on a birds head and call it jobs a gud ‘un (though it does work tbf).

I also don’t think I’ll go the monstrous path. Meaning bulging muscles and loads of mass.

I think I want to enhance what I got going just into divinity – but how. Now we’re into base models or sketches that can give the much needed direction.

So what would you like think to see Hurvald develop into?

  1. Ruins of Arotha says:

Feathered wings my friend. He needs some wings. Think Stormcast Eternals sort of shape, but feathers

  3. JornN says:

You could use the Nightbringer as the base model, adding Pegasus wings, replacing the scythe and the head…

  4. An occult / angelic approach seems the logical one.

Hmmm… Nightbringer was my first thought but its such a classic, and instantly recognisable, model that whenever it’s used in conversions – no matter how impressive, they still tend to come out looking like Nightbringer. For a moment I wondered about Nagash but to be honest that model doesn’t really fill me with a lot of joy.

Still I can imagine this guy towering in his renewal, his body like a column of smoke, tattered robes buffeted by invisible winds, great wings to carry him aloft, his birth-cry the haunting call of a hunting bird. Basically take what he is now and make him seem less earthy and organic, more unreal, like he’s still steeped in the raw stuff of the warp. Wish I could draw well enough to make my idea comprehensible but if you’re able to make sense of it (let alone make it!) I’ll be mightily impressed 😉

    • Precise and Nightbringer was the base for my Chosen Champion so he’s already used. I like your description as it’s kinda like a Dark Phoenix rising which is something that strikes me as important for some reason. Nagash is to massive, or at the least his newest incarnation. Hmm but then it’s the old one.

      Brainstorming is fun 🙂
