Albeit fun, and with models time accurate they didn`t really do much for me, but this all changed when I received my own sculpts in pewter.
The first batch of Orcs sculpted. These will be sold through Horde of Colors.The theme is that this warband has taken down a company of knights and then flogged them of their equipment. You can see scatterings of examples of this.All of my minis are barefoot as it just makes more sense. Like, would they really care about shoes or would they care about what can bash your head in. At least that was my reasoning, and I believe looted shoes would chafe and give blisters being to small for the larger more simian bodytype of the green skins.The troll has horse armor on his head, and a saddle as a shoulder pad.The boss has a knights helmet on his head and a smattering of armor cobbled on him.The shaman has flogged the horse and uses the pelt.The goblins has also nicked a few bits and bobs from the knights.Note that my take on gobs has an overbite, while the orcs have the more traditional underbite.
So that was a sample of my sculpts in pewter. I will paint up the entire stock set for my own use late summer/early autumn. As for the sculpting I do all on an iPad in Nomad Pro. Here are some of the sculpts in 3d;
So back to the “Ard Boyz. Getting three complete sets meant I could spare a few into proper nobs as mine are taller/more upright than the standard GW orcs.
A fun unit combining my sculpted bits with oldhammer era appropriate bits (and then some newer albeit pewter ones).Three nobs where not enough so I made a few more, but I’ll get back to these in a later blog post! Can you spot the source models for these?

Oh my, reimagined as Genestealer Orks! Note my two squid sculpts on those iconic old spiders from the goblin spider rider models. The printed genestealer inspired bits are made by Fordalminiatures and something I used in my 2nd ed Tyranid army.Much more happy with these as you can see the original sculpts a lot better! I don`t really know what to use them for in-game but they look cool at least 🙂
So two new mobs and even more pewter in the army – hard times! The Genestealer inspired bits can be bought and downloaded as STLs here at Fordal miniatures over on Cults 3d. Hi again! As I mentioned in my last post I started dabbling with 3d sculpting back in 2024. One of my main goals was just getting more out of the printer I got as a printer in 2022 and that I wanted to give oldhammer style sculpting a crack on a medium that is very low threshold to do. As in doodling on an iPad whenever time presents itself. So I did! Being a massive tzeentch fan I dug in and gave it a proper crack.

Oldhammer tzeentch flamer inspired model and my very first 3d sculpt.
But it didn’t start with a Change Marine (more on them in a little bit), it started with making an old hammer tzeentch flamer inspired model. Mind I did not have a single clue on simple things as remeshing and so on, I just work around my limitations until I came to this point. Funnily enough this is by far my most popular mini as far as downloads go, and I am really proud of him still. This model did give me a ton of confidence and after sculpting a whole set of various oldhammer tzeentch inspired models I moved on with trying to craft my own pitch on that very iconic known knight in space model from you know who.
The 1st edition Change Marines in all their glory mounted on a 25mm base.
I really didn`t want to copy to much so tried to keep the inspiration at there but adding things that are unique and gives something new to that iconic oldhammer range while still retaining my style of sculpting in there. I feel I succeeded but alas I am biased 🙂 I then just moved on and tried to expand on my range using that first one as the basis for the others.

I also had to make some Chaos Squat inspired models as it would just make so much sense.

So with that massive pic dump showing my progress these last years both in my ability to sculpt, but also the evolution of the army. I have a lot of stuff left though, and I plan on integrating more standard/stock GW minis into the army just to blend it all together with minis that I really love and want to feature.

Another year has passed and it is time to wrap it up and move on!
Blogging as a platform is still on a downward curve as seen the last few years but interaction on the blog has actually improved. TBH I prefer the latter as it is much more rewarding than just high numbers. Truth be told I’m not a very active blogger anymore so this plays into it obviously. But I will continue with the fine blogger tradition of the yearly wrap up so here goes 🙂
Of the four goals only one actually was fulfilled in any sense and that was Nestorian Infestation with a whole host of new minis. The other goals kinda fell off the wayside as the year progressed. Luckily they where replaced by other minis so all in all it has been a surprisingly productive year. First though, lets take a look at the Nestorian Infestation stuff.
Even though some of these minis where built a few years back they where finished in 2020 😅
The Baron here was actually built and painted during hobby sessions with Wilhelminiatures, Revimakk and Nordic. Such an inspiring and great gang that the result speaks for itself I feel ❤️
The converted GUO into a nid build is without a doubt my most popular mini on social media and I totally get it because it is my personal fav too. I have no idea on how many hours it took to build and then paint. No matter, it was worth it!

Now I didn’t just work on nestorian stuff in 2020. I actually did quite a lot!
It started with making a new chaos dwarf team for Blood Bowl. This is actually the third chaos dwarf team I’ve made for myself over the 14 years I’ve played BB. It is my fav team as it is the perfect blend of variation and bashing. Perfect!
Another cool thing I made was an undead warband consisting of a Liche leading Wight Kings and their minions. Fun stuff! So funny I even made som fitting terrain (note that I hate making terrain!).
This is a Warcry sized board using the fantastic bone trees from Wilhelminiatures! Haven’t been able to get a game in on it yet but covid and moving due to work is to blame there.
Speaking of Wilhelminiatures I also converted and painted two versions of his fantastic forest dweller minis.
I also really enjoyed converting his large forest dweller mini. What a treat and I can’t reccomend nor plug his range enough!
Doing random minis became quite the norm for 2020 as I made this Eldar War walker;

Aaaaaand this version of a Blackstone Fortress character over the year.
You’d think it would stop there right? Well not exactly. As I even made a Mordheim type warband before the year rounded off.
So yeah. Not a bad year as far as productivity goes when it comes down to it right 😅

As far as music, comics and literature I don’t really have any new stuff there to reccommend as I’m still just on the same stuff as last year 🙂

Setting goals with my approach to the hobby is almost entirely wasteful at this point. But instead I can do a guesstimate (I guess 😂):
Nestorian infestation minis (no brainer!).
Random minis and one-offs (a few planned already).
Social hobby evenings.
A game or two.
Yeah. I think thats more than good enough. Let us hope 2021 is better than 2020 as far as the stuff that REALLY matters and not just the hobby stuff 🙂
