When apocalypse first came out it inspired a building frenzy in my group. For me I made a stompa on free hand measurements and plasticard.
I made it in the shape of an ork cause I wanted it to look special and with a different approach than what everyone else was doing (anyone remember the taterhead stompas?).
But then the official model came out, paying a ton of homage to the classic epic stompa. I loved it and now with stompas being in the ork codex I thought it would be a great opportunity to revisit my stompa and bring it into line with the current look and size. So I tore the old one apart. Here’s what I’m keeping.
Now with that done I started building him up again with measurements from the stock stompa.
So not looking like much but I’m happy with the direction. I now focused on getting the arms and head sorted so that I know how to plate everything and not making things overly complicated for myself.
I’m by no means done with the arms but this works for me as of now. I also like showing off the krew so I made a bridge for the kap’n and mek.
Got some fun ideas I’ll be incorporating in there eventually.
At this stage and the stompa mocked up I could start detailing. I choose to start from the top, so head first.
Recognize the parts? Main head is an epic gargant actually. Other than that it’s jaw is from a discarded mega-dredd build and a leman russ plow. Oh and I snuck in some bitz from the brilliant flash gitz kits.
So next installment will be the belly gunners and update on the krew and front of the stompa.
