This was fun. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – I love painting orks 🙂
Very pleased with the black. Not that I’ve done anything new when it comes to the Merciless but using oil paints for my black has been an eye opener.
You might wonder why he’s so mundane and why his weapon is in pristine shape. He was a Blood Axe originally and as you know, old habits are hard to shake off.

I really like the skin tone you painted on the ork, a kind of drab olive/tan color, much different than what you typically see. I have always imagined that ork skin color must vary tremendously throughout the 40k universe. Great work!
Cheers 🙂 yeah the weapon really brought this one home. I took my cue from Jeff as he did much the same with his flash gitz. Less is definitely more sometimes!
I’m very proud of the way I paint green skin, though I’m not the originator I feel this variety is uniquely mine.
