After many years a major childhood bucket list item will finally be checked and.. well it will be Epic! 😀
Back when Epic was re-released in the nineties (I think it was like that, correct me if I’m wrong) I played it just like I played any GW game that was not Fantasy. Meaning tried it a bit, liked it but didn’t want to use my scarce earnings on more than fantasy (to keep up with the arms race we had). I did have a very small Imperial Guard force and I liked the game rather well actually.
So instead of diving into it I scoured White Dwarf again and again dreaming of what could have been. Especially the Waaghs that often where on display. Come to think of it I actually think this is where I first truly fell for orks 🙂
But now it’s my turn! The army is bought from a person who quit the hobby years ago. We’ve agreed on the price and everything and I think we both should be quite happy with it.
The army is even better than I could hope as the state and being unpainted means I can just go straight in there and do the fun stuff (paint stripping is not fun).
It will be an extension of my Deathskullz so blue and white will be key colours here.
The larger pieces will be customized a bit more.
I’ll try to bring in a bit more contemporary look and tone down the goofiness (if that’s your thing cool, it’s just not mine 🙂 ).
In addition to this I have a few more stompas, battlewagons and some bommas actually.
All in all this will be great and I’m really looking forward to this! If I’m lucky maybe one or more of the guys will pick up Epic as well when they see my freaking awesome Waaagh. Here’s hoping at least 😉
This will be started on July – August I think. Getting quite cramped in my hobby schedule (plastic crack..) 🙂

A mighty Waaagh!! Never played epic, but – like you, I spent hours pouring over the photos… I remember being blown away by the Eldar Titans the most 🙂
🙂
Luck has it that when I posted the link to this article in my Club’s facebook page a couple of guys came out of the woodwork. One with Space Marines who where super stoked to get someone to play against + he plays Blood Angels! I mean how karma is that 😀 another guy who’s an avid eldar player is also in so all in all this is looking good!
Nice! Battle reps please… 🙂
Oh you bet 🙂
What a wonderful project! When I first started the hobby it was around when they were releasing a lot of those Epic ork models. I have fond memories of looking through the White Dwarf magazines of all those models. Unfortunately I never purchased any of the models…
Maybe I will have to look around on ebay for some Epic models…
Thanks for bringing back all the memories!
Yeah I think so too, this will be one of those blissful nostalgic moments. I’m even day dreaming about writing narrative battle reports 🙂 As far as orks go I’ve never got that proper massive Waaagh feeling outside of Epic. They just nailed them there!
I never played Epic either but had played the old GW Armageddon video game based on it and always wishing I could have built a huge army full of super heavy Stompas! Looking forward to seeing what you do to modernize some of the army.
From my recollection it was a great game but we always felt it was very expensive. So I’m pretty excited to be able to start afresh and with a proper sized army at that. Even got a couple of opponents lined up 🙂
[…] bought this army second hand as you might remember and with it I got some of the boxes that feature some really cool artwork. I’ll show […]
[…] you can’t remember these from before check out what I got second hand, why I did it and where it stands now as I have lot more than titan class minis […]
