Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower #15

By Crom! The Darkoath Chieftain faces the denizens of the Tower.

I went the classic route with my (BARBARIAN) chieftain model wise but also for the paint scheme.

The horns and spikes where removed as it wouldn’t have been possible to wield the sword over his head. Mark the uncanny likeness to maybe one of the most famous of barbarians.

This is obviously a taunting pose. He’s big and strong but that sword needs both arms to utilize fully.

Again, it might seem as a boring scheme but I like it a lot and he’ll be my regular hero in WHQ.

Like the inside of the good old Conan comics.

Next hero I make will be the Battlemage (got the card for it as I ordered so early) who’s my second choice in any dungeon crawler πŸ™‚

Looking good mate, a very down to earth, working man’s hero (no hot showers and feather beds for this barbarian clearly!). It may be unhealthy but I’ve been trying to work out the bloodstains on the sword – they look a lot thicker, older and more caked on than I’d usually use. It’s an effect I’ve tried to create in the past, with varying levels of success, so any tips on how you did it?

    • Cheers! Conan and the Bloody Nine was my inspiration behind this model as they’re the quintessential barbarian in my eyes.
No problem! It’s fake Halloween blood. Apply it and while wet add nuln oil. It’ll cake and just add loads of ard coat while it coagulate. Messy but quick and effective πŸ™‚

Excellent model. I think it is a significant improvement over the standard model. You turned the “I’m standing here” pose into a subtle and convincing sense of movement. I particularly like the resentment clearly shown on his face. Top notch work.
